Nursery Consultation 22/4/2019 - 20/5/2019.
Dear Parents, Carers, local neighbours & members of our wider community.
The Governors of St. Bernard’s Catholic Primary School are currently consulting with the local community & stakeholders on our proposal to introduce a Nursery within our school from September 2019.
The Nursery will be situated in a classroom joining the reception classroom and will have access to quality outdoor provision. The proposed room can hold approximately 34 children. The Nursery would be based in its own designated area but would work closely with our reception class. We think it is important that our Nursery children are incorporated into the daily life of the school.
In September our initial intake will be between 8 and 16 children, aged 3 +. We are proposing to offer 5 morning & 5 afternoon sessions – sessions will last 3 hours. An optional lunch session will be offered too. Timings are to be confirmed but we will try to align with the school day. Parents will have the opportunity to sign up for 15 or 30 hours funding (if applicable). We are also looking at providing extended care before and after the school day –in line with our current “wrap-around” school arrangements - 7:30am until 6:00pm.
A full Nursery will be financially independent of the school & the governing body will develop the admissions policy. Please note there will be no automatic right for nursery aged children to gain a reception place at school & parents would need to apply as normal via Lancashire County Council’s Admission protocol & take note of our school admissions policy.
The Governors of St. Bernard’s see this as an exciting opportunity to develop a centre of excellence for Early Years Foundation Stage provision and welcome any response to this consultation.
Responses should be sent either in letter form or email to:
Mr F. Beetham, Chair of Governors. c/o St. Bernard’s School, Victoria Park Ave. Preston PR2 1RP
Email - firstname.lastname@example.org (FAO Mr. F. Beetham)
This letter will be circulated to local homes, local pre-school nurseries, local schools & local doctor surgeries. It is also displayed on our school website.
After the consultation period of four weeks (which finishes on 20/05/19) the governing body will review all responses & make their decision
